This time John took us from Hayfield up via a sawtoothed ridge, down and across the Chinley road, up to Chinley Churn and back down to Hayfield where a handy pub lay between us and the bus back to Marple…
Ascending the escarpment. (This path isn’t on my map, but it’s definitely there.)
On the way down, we found an Antler moth.
There was a debate about the route as various paths weren’t on the map.
Lunch close to the top of Chinley Churn (but just out of the wind)
Purposeful striding on the way back…
… knowing that the Royal was waiting for us!
Fabulous day, fabulous views (and the company wasn’t bad).
Walk 8 will begin with the 375 bus from Marple to Shiloh Road, (taking the 10:11 from The Hollins, and thereafter a walk over Lantern Pike.
